Vox Exchange is a voluntary buying organization, operating in the South African I.T. industry since the middle of 2007. Our objective is to serve and strengthen our members' business through the consolidation of supplier purchasing, negotiation of better pricing and special deals based on the volumes we can bring to suppliers, the support of our retail members through regular consumer advertising, provision of more flexible credit facilities and simplification of the billing and payment processes.
There are both opportunities and challenges in the I.T. market in South Africa. Compared with more developed markets, the South African market is dominated by Government contracts and large corporates. Retail business is a relatively small part, which means that as the economy develops, and more and more people get hooked up to the internet and increasingly run their lives with the help of a computer, so I.T. businesses large and small will feel the benefit. The challenge is that many of the large and medium sized chains are encroaching on the markets of the smaller I.T. businesses in small and medium sized towns and cities, making it harder for our members, and potential members to compete.
That is where Vox Exchange can make a difference. Through aggressive pricing, improved margins and promotions, we will help our members grow their businesses and increase market share even as the market grows. This will strengthen the position of our members, with their existing capacity for technical service and expertise, as leading retailers and service providers in their local markets.
